Our Home, The Mindsports Centre
The Mindsports Centre (MSC) is our home base: a bright, welcoming venue designed specifically for games such as chess, bridge and Go. It’s comfortable, quiet, and set up for serious play — but still relaxed and friendly.
It is the only purpose-built, custom-designed chess venue in London, and — without fear of contradiction — the best facility in the city for club chess.
If you’re visiting for the first time, here’s what to expect.
When you arrive
There’s no formal reception desk, but you’ll always find members of the Hammersmith committee around who are happy to say hello, answer questions and help you get settled.
On most Mondays we play downstairs in the main hall, with plenty of space and good lighting. Boards, pieces and clocks are provided — just bring yourself.
For Junior Hour, parents are warmly welcome to stay — we simply ask that they relax in the café/bar area while the session runs.

It’s a safe, well-run space that works beautifully for club chess.
Food & drink
The on-site café/bar is licensed and serves hot drinks, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, plus light snacks. It’s a great place to chat before or after your games.
Getting here
The Mindsports Centre is well connected by public transport, with Ravenscourt Park Underground station just two minutes’ walk away. Buses run nearby, and there is limited local parking on surrounding streets.

The MSC is family-friendly, professionally managed and designed to let players concentrate while still feeling part of a lively club atmosphere. New visitors sometimes worry about where to go or what to do — but once you arrive, you’ll find people ready to greet you and help you settle in.
