The Committee and AGM

As per our Club Constitution, Hammersmith Chess Club is managed by a Committee who oversee various aspects of the day-to-day of the Club. Committee members are regular members who pay their fees as much as anyone else, and volunteer to serve in the Committee for the benefit of our great Club.

Committee Officers are elected every year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), where any member can stand for election and/or propose any motions for consideration. Please see the Constitution linked above for the rules and procedures.

Many of these positions also have Subcommittees reporting to them, so there are plenty of opportunities for anyone interested in helping out. If you would like to get involved, please speak to a Committee Member.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The AGM is usually announced on the website with ample time in advance, and sent via Newsletters and/or WhatsApp chats. Any member can propose a motion or stand for election for any position in the Committee (see the Constitution for the formal rules and procedures).

Committee members also typically distribute reports for their respective spheres on the activities of the club during the year, e.g. updates on membership stats, teams and player stats, events organised during the year, etc. This is a great opportunity for the Committee to get in touch with our members and share more information on how our Club is running, but any member is free to reach out to a Committee member at any time with any ideas, proposals or questions. We firmly believe the Club is for our members and we are always happy to hear from all of you.
