Hammersmith Chess Club is registered as a Charity with an ‘Association’ model constitution, establishing voting members in addition to our charity trustees.
Members are at the heart of our club and form the core of our charity based activities. Our club would not be able to operate without the support of a multitude of volunteers.
The rights of the members are enshrined in the constitution (the next tab). Among them is the election of the trustees, one third of whom retires at the end of each year. The members vote on new trustees at the AGM.
Trustees have independent control over and legal responsibility for the charity’s management and administration. They manage the affairs of the Charity. Their activities are guided by the club’s constitution, by requirements of charity law, and by guidelines of the Charity Commission.
Whilst the trustees oversee the activities of the Club, they delegate day-to-day management to the Committee. It meets regularly throughout the year.
The current members of the committee are:
- Adam Cranston – Chair
- Christof Brixel – Treasurer
- Dave Lambert – Secretary
- Gaston Franco – Club Captain
- Sarah Ewart – Membership Secretary
- David Steyn – Webmaster
- Richard Thursby – Deputy Webmaster
- Tom Townsend – Junior Officer
- Jenny Mulholland – Beginners Officer
- John White – Events Officer
- Anastasija Royce – Diversity Officer
