Chess history is cruel, with few players other than those with outstanding tournament accomplishments or theoretical contributions able to leave anything more than mere footnotes.

However, if we delve deeply enough into these footnotes, often we can find some hidden gems, obscure perhaps, but no less sparkling or brilliant than their more well-known counterparts.
